The Influence of VCO Consumption Towards Blood Glucose Level and Histologic Pancreas at Hyperglicemia Rats Induced by Alloxan

ABSTRACT

             Diabetes mellitus (DM) was the illness that was marked by the height of the level of blood glucose exceeded normal, one of them resulting from the lack body of good insulin absolute and relative and had trias the typical sign that is the increase in the frequency ate (polifagi), urine (poliuri), drank (polidipsi). VCO was the pure coconut oil extract that it was suspected could cure the diabetes sufferer. VCO contained the medium chain fatty acid (MCFA), that is the chain fatty acid was that was rich in a sour manner laurat. This research aimed at proving that VCO could unload the level of blood glucose.

            The research kind was the experimental research that was prospective longitudinal study, with the subject was 30 Rattus Strain Wistar mice that were 2 months old with the weight 120-140 gram and was divided into 3 groups, respectively the group consisted of 10 mice.

            In results of the test oneway ANOVA the level of glucose of beginning blood showed not significant results (p>0,05), and it was continued with Post Hock inter-group that showed results that also not significant (p>0,05) inter-group. In results of the test oneway ANOVA the level of glucose of end blood showed significant results (p<0,05). To know to what group the significant difference was available, then was followed by Post Hock inter-group. Results showed that to the I group (the control) and the group II (alloxan) showed results were not significant (p>0,05), whereas to the I group with the III group (alloxan and VCO) and to the group II with III show significant results (p<0,05). In the inspection histology the mouse pancreas with Hematoxilin-Eosin staining, to the I group was seen endocrine the cell – the measuring cell normal. To the group's mouse II was seen endocrine the pancreas was that experienced atrophy and hyperplasia. To the group's III mouse showed regeneration. Results of this research concluded that VCO had the influence in the decline in the level of blood glucose and the appearance of histology of the mouse pancreas that has induced by alloxan.
